Columbia Alumni Filmmakers' Screening of AWOL May 19-25

Genre
Film

The AWOL Team is pleased to announce film screenings on May 19 - May 25 at the IFP Media Center. AWOL, directed by Deb Shoval '03SOA and produced by LA Teodosio '15SOA, Jessica Caldwell '12SOA and Michel Merkt, premiered in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016.  The film has received support from IFP, The Jerome Foundation, Frameline, Film Independent, US Works in Progress Paris, Tribeca Film Institute and Women In Film.  AWOL was rep’d by ICM and will be distributed by The Orchard.

AWOL's Joey (Lola Kirke, Mozart in the Jungle) joins the Army as a way out of Pennsylvania coal country just as she falls in love with magnetic housewife Rayna (Breeda Wool, UnReal). Deb Shoval's first feature is a splendid meditation on the boundless possibilities of first love constricted by the trials of poverty.
